Manning better than ever

08:02 AM ET 10.29 | What a difference a few months makes for Peyton Manning. After four surgeries on his neck and a layoff of more than a year from the game, conventional wisdom and common sense argued there was no way Manning could possibly be as good for the Broncos as he was for the Colts in 2009, the last time he won the MVP. Well, consider this: Manning might be better than ever. Against the Saints, he threw for more than 300 yards for the fifth consecutive time in a Denver uniform. Back when there were doubters, longtime friend Brandon Stokley promised Manning had not slipped from his status as an elite quarterback. "Pat me on the back," Stokley joked, after Manning recorded a near-perfect 138.9 quarterback rating against the Saints.

The saints are giving up 305/yds passing a game - so that is not a good measuring stick. Glad he is doing well and has not suffered a major injury in his comeback.

At this point, the Broncos are playing for home field in the playoffs.

If they get it, beware!

Looks like we're going to have a home playoff game. I don't think they can knock off New England, but everyone else in the AFC is fair game.

I disagree. I say if Manning DIDN'T pick apart that defense, there would be a problem.

NO gave up 420 yds to Josh Freeman, so by that logic Freeman is a better QB than Payton.

QUOTE(#8):

That's grade school logic. Just because someone else did well doesn't mean they're great. It's when great qb's don't get the #'s against bad pass Defenses.

And its grade school logic that when a QB scores the avg against a poor defense that it means anything - which was my original point.
