This Calvin Johnson blip goes beyond deep cover safeties and brackets. It goes beyond the Madden curse and all the other demons that swim around him. Calvin Johnson has the yips, which has resulted in the drops. He is not playing like Megatron and there are reasons that go beyond excuses. Unfortunately, he has turned into Megadrop. ... But here is the excuse and I'm sticking with it. Johnson's knee is bothering him and it does not allow him to push off the line and push away from defensive backs like he is used to. The burst is gone and Johnson looks like a normal NFL receiver running his routes.

Yips are when you get tight. Ever see a baseball player freeze up when making a throw to 1st and end up throwing it straight into the ground or into the stands. That's the yips. Apparently happens in golf too when people putt, they just freeze. I never heard of the yips when catching a ball though. Yips usually occur for more finesse/precision type of sports plays. Maybe the author is way off base.
