08:11 AM ET 10.29 | When it comes to the health of Kobe Bryant, Metta World Peace remains an optimist in the room. The days are flying by, the Lakers down to one full day of practice before their season opener Tuesday. Will [Bryant] be able to play? "I have my doubts," Lakers forward Pau Gasol said. "He hasn't been able to practice for six days. He's been off that foot for six days. It's no joke. I don't remember the last time he took that many days off of exercising. It's concerning." Bryant sustained a strained right foot Oct. 21, which happens to be the last day he talked to the media, after tripping over Sacramento forward Thomas Robinson while cutting to the basket in an exhibition game.

QUOTE(#1):

They'll be fine! The new guys will have to get acclamated a lot faster. Gives Nash and Howard a chance to show what they can do w/out Kobe.

Kobe's aging. He's going to have nags here and there. Lakers need to prepare themselves mentally for that and learn how to stay on top of the league with him being in and out of the the line up throughout the season.

Go Lakers! I love any team that can beat Miami...

Kobe is Kobe. Pau needs to just worry about his own rebounding and mental focus.

Don't piss off the mamba , bro!

If they can't win without Kobe, while having Nash, Gasol and Howard, they have a BIG problem. They'll be fine.

The real question is will Gassole be ready , Kobe is a fast healer and a freak of nature , my guess is He will play opening night and the TNT announcers will be kissing his arse like usual as he plays thru the pain and drops 40 on his opponent just Like Mike use to every time he got the sniffles.

The remaining players better get their jump shots in while they can before Kobe returns

QUOTE(#12):

I think the addition of Nash and Howard will help Gasol and altogether it will take a load off of Kobe. He will get less attention this year and the net effect will be to make it easier on him. I think this minor injury will just be a blip on the radar early on and be forgotten quickly.

I presume you haven't been a 30something year old athlete before...

Don't worry about Kobe, he will be ready. Mike Brown needs to get the team ready, this is the challenge now.
