Mets may target Cabrera

08:12 AM ET 10.29 | The Giants didn't need Melky Cabrera to win the World Series, but he certainly made things easier. [Does the NL team] get the home-field advantage and, thus the first two games in AT&T Park if he is not the All-Star Game MVP? ... [When] you ask outside executives where Cabrera will end up next year, one locale that is repeated is San Francisco. In fact, even Giants officials privately concede the possibility. They have Angel Pagan coming up to free agency and -- cover your eyes, Mets fans -- his success, especially after Cabrera's departure, might have priced him out of San Francisco. One NL personnel head went as far as to say he thinks Pagan, because of his trajectory and prime center field position, will receive more than Nick Swisher in free agency.

All the Giants need to do with Melky is send him his championship ring and tell him to have a nice life.

Just what the Mets need another ex juicer who never did a thing until he stuck a needle in his a$$...

The NL won 8-0...I don't think that not having Melky would have led to an AL win, sorry.

And it was Sandoval's two-run triple that broke the game open.

You read my mind.

Melky will gladly play for any team that outfits his clubhouse locker with a medicine cabinet.

Why not, he would be a great influence to their young players!!!

A rehash

Cabrera could sign with any team, but it should be under team. Conditions, fail a test for any substances and cut him loose without pay,,,,

October 29, 2012  01:42 PM ET

The Jets should give him a call and atleast invite him in for a look...

Keep the News reels rolling...

why would we want this guy, does anyone in queens have any sense at all? Let's see, Jason Bay on one side and Milky on the other? You don't rebuild/build for the long run with guys like Melky Carbera. You do it with young talent like Hunter Pence, Y. Grandel (Padres young catcher), Justin Upton (maybe), put that in the mix with David Wright, Ike Davis and Tejada and its the beginnings of a solid young team. But Melky Cabrera, stop with this already!

Giants, keep him... When I know every juicer's name, I will stick my nose in the air, but until then, come back Melky.

You are aware that Pence is older than Melky???

October 29, 2012  10:38 PM ET

wiseup: it will be interesting what kind of production melky will produce on his own with out the peds. Look what happened to careers of sosa and palmero after they were shut off the roids

Should alleviate the pressure of becoming a Met, THEN becoming a disgrace...

Maybe. Melky is Dominican, so his age is plus or minus five years of whatever he says it is.
