11:48 AM ET 10.29 | The South Carolina Gamecocks issued a statement to give an update on the injured leg of star running back Marcus Lattimore, who suffered a horrifying injury against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday. While the junior running back has a long road to recovery ahead of him, the injury could have been worse. It was initially feared that Lattimore suffered fractures and torn ligaments during the injury but the school's statement clears the air.

Horrific footage to watch.......from what I hear he's a great kid. I hope Lattimore recovers and has a great football carreer.

Regardless, hope he has success in life in whatever direction it takes him

That injury was nasty. Wish him the best in recovery.

Good news; hope he comes back and has a long, successful football career, like Maghee.

Best wishes to the young man. Very touching to see both teams come out on the field and show their support of him.

Not to trivilize Lattimore's injury, but I remember a kid at MSU (Tyrell Doritch) who broke his leg between the knee and ankle. Leg folded over as he fell in the endzone. Gruesome.

I remember Joe Theisman as a kid....think it was LT. You could see his bone poke out through the sock....that was the worst I ever saw, but Lattimore is a close 2nd

I saw that one too. Theisman and Doritch were the only two that I saw bone exposed. Violent game.
