01:08 PM ET 10.29 | The Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization are allowing left-handed pitcher Ryu Hyun-Jin the opportunity to test the waters and sign with a Major League Baseball team. Hyun-Jin could sign as early as next season. Ryu is known for his control over his fastball, changeup and slider, and the ability to strike out opposing batters. In the KBO, Ryu led the league in strikeouts five different seasons. Ryu initially caught the eyes of MLB scouts after leading South Korea to a gold medal victory at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Ryu also led his nation to a runner-up finish at the 2009 World Baseball Classic. In an effort to maximize his worth, the pitching prospect has signed super agent Scott Boras.

At very least, I hope he can eat a gyro sandwich.

yes I agree, he looks like a right handed guy to me. Maybe its not him at all and whatever team signs him will sign him as a right handed pitcher at which Scott Boras will tell Management more money is needed to secure his services I just don`t know ?

Have any of these signees (with the exception of Ichiro) lived up to the hype or the expense?

October 30, 2012  01:22 AM ET

A. Wrong pic. B. seen him pitch many times. no hype on this one. Knows how to pitch. Ryu (not Ken) is a proven inning eater with big-league changeup. C. The best case scenario be 4.00 ERA, 180 innings. Not gonna be a franchise star but will get better. I'd pay 15 mil in total for 4 yrs (5 mil to the Eagles, 10 mil to Ryu for 4 yrs - 2.5 mil/yr). D. At worst, he'd be a decent long relief, worth every penny of his 2.5 mil salary.
