03:27 PM ET 10.29 | Cecil Shorts III may be the best receiver the Jags have had in a long time. I don't want to jinx it and turn this into a Mike Sims-Walker situation, but right now I'm loving what Shorts brings to the Jaguars. He has the ability to slip behind defenses and has a knack for making tough catches. He missed a big one against the Packers on a great throw by Gabbert, but the catch was incredibly difficult. Shorts has only caught 20 of the 41 targets he has received this year but has been making the most of his recent opportunities. For a guy that only had two receptions in 10 games last year, he's been having himself quite the season. If I would have had to guess that a Jaguars receiver would make it into the top five receivers by yards per reception, I never would have picked Shorts. Heck, I never would have guessed the Jags would have a player at number three!

Shorts can bring a pro bowl status year to the Jaguars....but without QB, as you stated, going to be a 3-13 year...unless they can play Titans 5 or 6 times.......just as bad...........

It's sad when the #4 receiver during the pre season is the #1 guy. Blackmon, #5 pick in the draft, Robinson, overpaid #3 receiver in Dallas, allegedly a #1 or #2 here and Thomas, #1 receiver last year, really a slot #3 type. Oh hell, at least there's a somewhat positive article about us on the website. That is considered a win.
