03:47 PM ET 10.29 | Now that the Oklahoma City Thunder have traded James Harden, they may have some money left over to keep backup point guard Eric Maynor for the long term. However, that won't happen just yet. Maynor and the Thunder could not agree on a contract extension before the October 31 deadline for members of Maynor's draft class, according to The Oklahoman. Maynor will therefore become a restricted free agent next summer, when the Thunder can still match any offer for him.

OKC's problem with contracts is because they drafted well 3-4 years ago -- now they have to re-sign them all. (Durant, Ibaka, Westbrook, Harden) Maynor came in a trade after he rode the bench in Utah for a year.
In those 3 drafts -- OKC also drafted Big Baby, Bledsoe, Carl Landry & Beaubois -- but traded around draft time.

Maynor first needs to have a REALLY good season for a big pay day. Even then, his best bet might be to play with OKC. In Utah he didn't crack the regular rotation.

OKC is going to be just fine. I do wish they would have gotten a center...but then again, Miami doesn't have a true center and still won the title...so in today's NBA a center is not neccessary, I guess. I think alot of people are going to be suprised how good the OKC Thunder is going to be. Let's get the season started!
