06:06 PM ET 10.29 | James Harden was understandably devastated when he was first traded away from the Oklahoma City Thunder, but 24 hours later, he's singing a different tune. During his introductory press conference with the Houston Rockets, Harden declared that the team "could have something special here." Rockets GM Daryl Morey was also excited, saying that Harden is a "player we can build around."

James ... he is learning some about PR comments ... nice job.

I didn't think he was devastated to be trade to Houston ... and I don't think he is that excited to be there. (except for the max contract $$$$)

Harden is right. Houston still has cap room to sign another max player. If they can get another big time scorer to come to Houston (preferably a big man), they will be in business.

At the very least, they will be very entertaining with Lin and Harden running the show and Royce White running from the bus to games.

Until Harden becomes an all star and averages 23ppg + he will be no better than OJ Mayo...

that was pretty stupidunless he truly wants to be his own man- which I could respect(but its still silly to give up a guaranteed good team for a potential lottery bound one for years)

IT doesnt make sense to me. In Houston he has to go through a rebuild process whereas he could have stayed put and possibly win a title this season.. With pretty much the same amount of money. Im no millionare ,but whats 8 mill when you already have 52?

hey-I agree with you....but business is business- he made a business gamble and he now has a few more $ in his bank account, but his basketball career has taken a MAJOR downturnI said this on another thread- he played chicken with presti and presti crossed the road

Im willing to bet he is somewhere regretting this decision. But, you are right it is a business and he is a sole business man so he has to live with it. On the other hand if he somehow does the unthinkable, and does NOT regress as the "guy" Houston and Harden look like geniuses. Him and Lin are playing with the same stakes. Everyone is watching and waiting for the I told you so moment.

It's more than 8 mil.He wanted 4/60 from the Thunder. He wil get 5/70 from Houston. But, he will have to learn the same lesson that Joe Johnson learned after leaving the Suns.Being the man is harder than it looks.

Ahh I see. Well that is considering Harden decides to extend . Houston just took a gamble as well as there is no guarantee Harden doesnt jet after this year. But Houston is a fairly large market. They arent financially commited to anyone at the current moment. So they have some money to throw around. They are losing draft picks so they wont be able to build through the draft for a while, but they have money, and that certianly talks.
