04:50 AM ET 10.30 | After missing the remainder of the Knicks' playoff series last year with that infamous hand injury, New York power forward Amare Stoudemire will miss the first 6-8 weeks of the season at least, as he recovers from a knee injury that flared up Oct. 19 when he ruptured a cyst behind his knee. The initial prognosis on Stoudemire's knee was two weeks but after getting a second opinion, it was revealed that more time will be needed for the knee to fully heal. At this time it's not known if the cause for the extended healing period is for procedure or precaution. ESPN's "insider" Chris Broussard is reporting that Stoudemire will miss 6-8 weeks, which likely means the big man will be ready for the opening tip of the Knicks 2012 season. The knee in question is the very same that Stoudemire had microfracture surgery on back in 2005, which kept him out of games when he was playing for the Phoenix Suns.

Who reigns supreme in New York the Knicks or the Nets?

All aboard the bandwagon to Brooklyn This is less a pick for the Nets than against the Knicks, who have dealt with injuries up and down the roster during the preseason and are so old that they have totally exhausted the world???s supply of The Knicks are so old jokes The Nets have a host of questions that include their team defense, interior depth and how quickly they can make a new roster gel. Those issues, though, are preferable to the ones plaguing the Knicks, who are totally reliant on Tyson Chandler staying healthy If he goes down an above-average defense gets significantly worse and New York???s average offense isn t likely to pick up the slack The Carmelo Anthony Amar???e Stoudemire pairing is still questionable at best and outside of Anthony, there just aren???t any scoring options capable of providing comfort with their consistency

NO EXCUSES FOR MY KNICKS THIS YEAR- don't want to hear about injuries- we play with whom we have

Going into this season we all knew Amare won't play 82 games. We knew this before signing him to that 100 mil contract so this comes as no surprise.

This should however not lower the expectation Woody set. It's championship or bust. Let's go get them girls in Miami!

Even without STAT Knicks should be able to beat the Nets easily. But coach hasn't gotten the team well prepared or disciplined to handle the structured Brookly Nets squad... I expect little general to smack us silly on opening night... It's Knicks man... we're always a joke.

Yeah; like that'll happen. Why don't you give up. You're betting on a dead horse.

I would just get him healthy.... And try and try to move him to a team that could use him. Could they move him to a team that has young talent or draft picks? The knicks need to move on from this guy. Too much money and he's always injured.

Knicks is the only team that can live with such a liability. He's right at home. Knicks love STAT and STAT love Knicks!

In past 15 years have a Knicks done anything right?

I am not going to say 'I told you so' about his reliability.

I gave up on this season but... Woody's not a good leader as there's no coherency on the team.
