The next Tim Duncan

08:11 AM ET 10.30 | Doesn't Anthony Davis have enough to worry about? The long arms are the same, and so is the stoic facade. The most anticipated rookie in the NBA this season combines a superstar's skill set with a 12th-man's work ethic, and a capacity for detail that borders on obsessive-compulsive. So it is not without merit that New Orleans' Anthony Davis -- the precocious 19-year-old from Kentucky drafted No. 1 overall in June -- has earned impossible billing as "The Next Tim Duncan" among some NBA observers. To this common perception, the original Tim Duncan offers this humble rejoinder: "I'm not gone yet," said Duncan, the Spurs' 36-year-old, two-time league MVP. "Can I be me for a little while?"

No dude, watch some of his videos. The guy has a sweet mid range shot, and will only get better. Funny enough I also same him make that "bank" shot :-)

dumbest statement ever... Duncan had way more touch on his shot as well as a hefty arsenal of post moves coming out of college... people are getting way ahead of themselves on here..

How about just be Anthony Davis. You'll probably find that will come with a lot less pressure.

Won't matter, as SA will not be any where near what they were.

This guy is not Duncan. He is the first Anthony Davis. I think the closest comparison during his rookie year will be to that of Kevin Garnett when he was a rookie. Both were rail thin and play good defense but I think Davis will be a better shot blocker as a rookie. He will play the 3 and the 4 which is something Duncan has not done and I don't think he will get exposed too bad playing either. He is so long and he blocks a ridiculous amount of jumpers that I have not seen most bigs do.

What Davis has going for him is an unrivaled skill set. The guy was a 6'2" guard. A very late growth spirt took him to almost 7 feet. As a result, he can handle the ball, he has good footwork inside, and a nice midrange touch. I don't see Tim Duncan, but Davis should create his own legacy.

Yeah.....what ^^^he^^^ said.
At least for the next few years, anyway. But we may be comparing him to someone else in 3-4 years.....maybe Garnett, for instance.
