Dotel eager to return to Detroit

08:19 AM ET 10.30 | Octavio Dotel isn't much interested in pitching for team No. 14 in his MLB career. Following the Tigers' four-game sweep Sunday, Dotel voiced his desire to remain with Detroit next season. But, unlike last offseason, the ball isn't in his court this time. "I hope I can come back here," Dotel said, mere moments after he gave manager Jim Leyland a season-ending farewell hug in Detroit's clubhouse. But in order for that to happen, the Tigers would need to exercise their $3.5 million option, which could be considered a bargain given Dotel's impressive 2012 campaign. Dotel, who turns 39 next month, went 5-3 with a 3.57 ERA in 57 games this year. He was especially effective against right-handed batters, limiting them to a .197 batting average.

Do tell, Dotel!I think Tubby and Chubby might lay the beef on you next spring after they hear about you calling them meek and mild before Game 4.

Agreed.....I don't think it was smart to say what he did if he really wants to return to Detroit.

What you said about your team after game 3 Dotel was accurate, either there was no fight or the Giant pitching was that good. If I am the GM you would be a Tiger next year.

wiseup:Smart move keeping Leyland. Next step is to improve bullpen.Giants bullpen outmatched Detroits. Giants, Reds, And Cards can shorten the games with a strong bullpen.

Dotel may be back in Detroit, but Valverde is gone...so is Delmon.

The team could look at Broxton, Madsen, or Soria over the winter, or Soriano if he does not re-up with the Yanks.
