08:22 AM ET 10.30 | Though the offseason is barely underway, some teams have significant decisions to make. Zack Greinke is expected to take his free-agent negotiations deep into November and possibly December, but the fate of two other Angels starting pitchers, as well as right fielder Torii Hunter, could be determined this week. The team must decide by Wednesday whether to pick up Ervin Santana's $13-million option for 2013 or pay a $1-million buyout and by Friday whether to pick up Dan Haren's $15.5-million option or pay a $3.5-million buyout. ... [GM] Jerry Dipoto on Monday raised another, albeit long-shot, possibility, hinting that he has explored trades of Santana and Haren in hopes of netting some kind of return before the players walk as free agents.

The Red Sox have the dollars and the prospects to trade for either one of these two from the Angels.

If I am the owner of the Angels I would not want this moron running my team. What other GM would trade with the Halos knowing now if you wait you can get these players a whole lot cheaper than with a trade.

As terrible as Santana was, no one's going to give up talent for him and then pay him $13MM.

The best thing the halos can do as a organization, buy those two pitchers for one million and the other pitcher for the 3.5 million, after that trade them, the very funny part would be when this two pitchers play with the other teams they would pitch much better than in Anaheim :-) :-)

Duh - after buying out the contracts, the team no longer holds the rights to the players, and therefore cannot trade them - they are free agents.

then let them walk away, their options are too high in terms of money i mean,11.2 millions for santana, and 15.5 millions for haren is it worthed?? doubtfull the halos have a window to clear some high salaries and use that money to sign some new young players,,,

October 30, 2012  01:34 PM ET

the angels have the opportunity to save some 27 millions in this two head cases,, the lack in conssistent diffensive catcher overthrow any efforts from haren and santana, plus the lack of hitting with conssistancy the halos dig deeper their own tumb, poor hitting can't take you to a higher level in the game and in the division,

October 30, 2012  01:39 PM ET

halos are too weak in their offense, it not matter where the league had them ranked, in order to win the team needs conssistent pitching, the angels lack in that area, to win tough games the team needs solid and conssistent hitting, the halos lack in that as well, in order to have a solid and disiplined rotation the angels need a disciplined and conssistent catcher behind the plate, the halos lack in that area,,,

ANGELS WOULD NEED , NEW PITCHING COACH, NEW HITTING COACH, NEW BULLPEN COACH, NEW BENCH COACH, AND IF THINGS AREN'T LOOKING TOO GOOD IN THE FIRST MONTH OF THE (SEASON 2013)THEN THE CURRENT MANAGER MAY HAVE TO BE GONE,!!!
