A dynasty grows in San Francisco

08:24 AM ET 10.30 | All along, the plan for Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy was to rely heavily on pitching. So the likes of Tim Lincecum and Madison Bumgarner were drafted and added to a stockpile of young arms that already included Matt Cain, Brian Wilson and Sergio Romo, Barry Zito was signed as a free agent to bolster the rotation, and the guts of a perennial contender were methodically put into place. ... "In our division with the bigger ballparks, (the thinking was) we would be better off going with pitching and defence and try to get more athletic," said Bochy. "Brian has done a great job with it." That's an understatement. Dynasty, anyone? "I don't like to say that because it sounds like we're self-proclaiming something," said Giants president Larry Baer.

I hated that show, Dallas was much better.

They were a fun team to watch. Of course the Tigers had something to do with that.

There is no loyalty any more to teams because of greed to the almighty dollar and that is the reason there will be no more dynasty in baseball.

I concur. Didn't even lose power.

I'm prolly the worst one as far as spellin' goes but even I know that it's "defense" not "defence".

Defence is a common British spelling, definitely looks odd in the US but I'm not sure it's considered wrong.

I think we decided in our rebellious way to defy the King to the extent that we spell everything differently in the US even though we both speak some form of the English language. We even chose to drive on the opposite side of the street as the British and that was how many years after the Revolution?

We were out for 2-3 hours, and I was amazed it came back on that quickly. I hope the North Country doesn't get bad flooding like last year.

I prepared for the worst but all that happened at my house was a downspout was blown off the house.

Well I did have a garbage can blow over and some of my neighbors trash has blown into my yard.

Anyone have the phone # for FEMA?

Yup, the article is from sportsnet.Canada and up there they still use some of the old world spelling.
