Oregon State's newest QB shuffle

08:29 AM ET 10.30 | A bump in the road has helped force the Beavers into a lineup change away -- for now, anyway -- from Sean Mannion. After six straight wins sent Oregon State shooting up the polls, the Beavers are now riding a one-game losing streak and the twists and turns of a quarterback shuffle. Another turn came Monday when OSU coach Mike Riley named Cody Vaz his starting quarterback for Saturday night's game against Arizona State. Riley made the switch for "the integrity of competition," and said, "you try to make the decision that's best for the team right this minute." ... "Whatever those intangible things are, where [Mannion's] not playing at 100 percent of his level, I think he can battle through these things and get back," Riley said.

Looks awful from the tele scenes. Hope your place isn't that bad.

he should have taken mannion out earlier. Mike, that failure probably lost you the game, buddy.

Sadly this is true... Perhaps Mannion could have done with another week of recovery from surgery...

Hope for all that the effects of the storm are minimal... some places look quite badly off.

True... Mannion should not have started last week. Not sure how long most take to recover from knee surgery, but it was clear he took at least one less week than he should have.

Part of my fence came down (again) and lost power for a little while but so far that is about it. Will do a better walk around today. Doing better than a lot of the folks in NY, NJ and CT.

IMO, Oregon State is good this year, but they are overrated, just luike South Carolina is. Washington is not all that good this year. but they did beat Stanford and Oregon State.

I'm glad it wasn't all that bad for you and I'm glad you are safe.

What a Hog Fan doing in the NE, anyway? You're supposed to be down here worrying about a tornado taking your trailer, not a hurricane taking your trailer! :-)

Like the old joke....what does a divorce and a tornado have in common in the state of Oklahoma? In both cases some poor **** is losing his trailer house.

Golly gee, Beavs, don't lose steam, now. Mom needs you to sweep the sand from the driveway.

And all this time i thought that was a West Virginia joke :-)

Riley has always been a coach that sticks with his players. If Mannion told him he could go, he would give him that shot. He should have taken him out at the half - that decision probably cost them the game. But hindsight is always 20/20.

West Virginia is best known for inventing the tooth brush....if it were invented in any other state it would be called a teeth brush
