04:08 PM ET 10.30 | Trade rumors have and will continue to swirl around the Packers and their running back situation but Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy says Alex Green is the one who has earned the opportunity to carry the ball right now. "James [Starks] will probably be given more opportunities as we go through the week, but there are a number of different factors that are involved with that and the biggest one is Alex Green has earned these opportunities." Despite what McCarthy says, the NFL rumor mill will still include the Packers ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.

Yea, his name is Aaron Rodgers...he's running for his life half the time....though he does take a pretty pretty sack!

My comment. The Packers org. is the cheapest bunch of SOB's there are. McCarthy is coveted not because he won a SB but because he is willing to work with players who wouldn't be third string on most other teams and not **** about it.
I mean really. Green, Starks and Saine are third string at best on any other team.
The Packers let a quality pass rusher in Jenkins and a pro bowl center named Wells go because they wanted to save a nickle.
TT is the cheapest SOB on the planet. The team is a patchwork of hand me downs and 3rd through 6th rounders.
There number one and two picks this year are bums and were rated poorly by the analyst. They've done squat to improve the team.
Yes they have had injuries galore but is that due to lack of quality off season conditioning program, lack of physical activity in practice or what. Many of there injuries are happening in practice. What the hell is that. How out of shape can you be to go on injured reserve from a practice injury?

Rogers is starting to remind me of a golden lab puppy being gun trained for the first time. He ducking and ducking the pass rush and forgetting to get rid of the ball.
The secret to getting Rogers to perform badly is rush him. The O line is theeee worst in the league. Suprised they haven't stretchered him off the field yet. It will happen.

For non Packer fans this is really saying, hey we can't afford a quality back so were sticking with the losers we have.

I would agree with you if the Packers hadn't won the Super Bowl in 2010, and then followed up with a 15-1 season in 2011, and basically had not been the team to beat in the NFC North since oh, about 2008.
There are about 20 other teams in the NFL that I'm betting their fans would be ecstatic to have Ted Thompson as GM, and Mike McCarthy as the head coach.

The Packers have Rodgers and a bunch of no names and still have a winning record.

Are you stupid or did you get dropped on your head. ALL Packers fans and most football people know this is not true. The Packers only have about 4.2 million in cap space. Maybe a little more but with Rodgers, Matthews, and Raji Contract's all coming up the Packers cant take on a 29 year RB in Williams with a horrible contract. T.T. will never give up a 3rd round choice to rent Jackson for a year. Since 1992 the Packers have had a losing record twice. I'm guessing you're a Vikings fan and you better than anyone should know signing FA and buying a team doesn't work

Your a idiot! If you knew anything the Packers have about 4 million of cap space. With Rodgers, Matthews, Ragi all due new contracts they need all the cap space they have. There's also Jennings at the end of this year who they won't be able to keep. I assume you're a Vikings fan so you should know signing others has been doesn't work. Just ask Brett Farve! BTW... How many SB you been in since 1975??? LMAO!

The same number they won before 1975...zero. I don't agree with Ernie but in these forums we never let facts get in the way of a good rant. Also, I think he's actually a Packer fan but I'm not positive.

What else could the coach say? "The guys we have now are total idiots, so please bring in someone else." That wouldn't get much effort out of the existing runners. Coach has to say "these guys are gread," even if he is on the phone begging the GM to get him a real running back every day.
