Suns to cut Johnson loose after the season

05:26 PM ET 10.30 | It's been a long fall for Wesley Johnson. The No. 4 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft never got his game together with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and now it looks like he's not going to spend very much time with his new team. The Phoenix Suns announced they will not pick up his $5.4 million option for next season, which will make him an unrestricted free agent. The Suns say publicly that they could bring Johnson back with the cap space they'll have, but it's rare for a team to re-sign a player after they decline that option. Johnson has averaged just 7.7 points per game on 40-percent shooting in his NBA career.

Some team needs to give this guy a chance, no way on earth he's a bad player or even a bust.

Maybe he's something for Orlando?

He actually is pretty bad and a bust. He is a lanky three point shooter who can't shoot threes. He doesn't use his length or athleticism to do anything else. That's why he couldn't even get big minutes in Minnesota.

Kind of strange for the Suns to make that kind of an announcement about one of their player's before the season even starts. Maybe it's to light a fire under his arse.

Kinda funny if you look at the 2010 NBA draft, they could have easily drafted much better.

#7 Monroe
