Finally, the year of the Manning Bowl?

07:58 AM ET 10.31 | The storyline is nearly too rich to come true. Imagine this: Eli Manning vs. Peyton Manning, in an all-Manning Super Bowl XLVII in their hometown of New Orleans on Feb. 3, accompanied by world record hype, lots of fans from New York and Denver and records for gumbo sales. Halfway through the season, it's beginning to look like it actually could happen. It's been years since a Manning Bowl matchup in the Super Bowl was a realistic possibility. ... After an expected slow start as he continued to build up his arm strength, Peyton is on fire for the Broncos, who despite being just 4-3, could soon emerge as the best team in the AFC. They are the only team over .500 in the AFC West and should have no trouble winning the division.

In other premature news, the Minnesota Vikings are favored to win the Super Bowl in the next 50 years.

I think the 2-1 lead in Super Bowl rings already did that.

There are other teams that will have something to say about this.

Are you kidding me. I saw Dallas turn the ball over 6 times the other day and still the Giants barley won the game. Trust me, the Super Bowl is not going to have an NFC East team this year.

Ooops. Used the wrong metric. Overall, I think the ring count means Eli is surpassing his brother as an elite QB, but he hasn't directly beaten him.

hilarious , couple of weeks ago they were ripping Peyton for looking old and washed up .. Now thanks to the Saints and their all world defensive unit Peyton has regained his magic and is Superbowl bound.

Yes they were, but, to be fair, even if you count the first quarter against Atlanta (where he did look like he couldn't play any more), Peyton has the highest QB rating in the NFL. That's after playing Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Houston, Oakland, New England, San Diego, and the Saints. Some of those teams are pretty good.

In other news just as likely to come true one day, Moses Tebow is expected to be the first pick in the 2062 draft, just fifteen years before his enshrinement in the Hall of Fame.

Houston and Green Bay in the SB........Manning brothers will be home eating popcorn and watching the game like the rest of us.

An all-anning SB would generate more threads than Tim Tebow. I think it would be more than I could stand.

I'd lean toward NE and Green Bay or NE and Atlanta right now. Tom and Bill are going to be in the playoffs, and I still don't think Houston will hold it together when it really counts.
