Gilbert regrets Comic Sans screed

08:04 AM ET 10.31 | LeBron James isn't the only party who might accept a do-over in The Decision's aftermath. In hindsight, Dan Gilbert admits, it was a bit hasty. A bit emotional. And he regrets it. Yep, regret. "Looking back now, that probably was not the most brilliant thing I've ever done in my life," Gilbert said before the Cavaliers kicked off the 2012-13 season Tuesday against Washington. That infamous letter the Cavaliers owner wrote to fans after LeBron James left for Miami in 2010, the one in which Gilbert declared in Comic Sans that the Cavaliers would win an NBA title before "the self-titled former 'king' wins one" wasn't his finest moment. Particularly now that James is collecting his first ring for winning the NBA championship in June.

Did Gilbert really do his best? I never thought so.

In HIS mind, he did.

Remember it was ferry's decision NOT to trade for Amare because he fell in love with JJ Hickson and didn't wanna trade him.

It's alright, Dan. We forgive you. We were pretty PO'd at the time ourselves.

I guess, but nobody even cares or remembers what happened 2 years ago anymore. Just focus on what you have and what you are trying to build, not the past

It's funny seeing Lebron pay some little school girls to congratulate him on National TV... what the freak. We all know Miami didn't win no championship. The league handed it to them. Go back and check the officiating at their series against Boston and OKC... the whole Miami squad is a fake soap opera.

And Romney's election is fixed too, right?

No one who seriously watches the NBA thought so either...and its super hypocritical bc he had no problems calling him 'king' either...

Who can blame him. When LBJ left, he tore out the hearts of everyone in Cleveland and cost Gilberts franchise 100 million or more in value.

Right, I mean it's not like he didn't generate close to a billion in revenue in his several seasons there. It's not like he didn't keep that team in top three form record wise and take them to the playoffs and even the finals with a roster that without James would be laughable and might not even win the D-League title. Not like the man did'nt have any help whatsoever. Not like his second best players on some of his rosters included the likes of Larry Hughes in the finals run and Moe Williams later. Man poor Gilberts....LMAO. He deserves to eat those words and I love that Lebron has stuck it to all you clowns who downgrade that mans talent.

His talent was never downgraded??? Everyone in the world knows he's the best, thats why everyone in Cleveland was mad he left! When you couple that with the way he decided to leave, it was like gasoline on a fire!

I am glad he won his title, he works hard and deserved to win. But don't discount the fact that he went to a team that already had 1 star then added 2 more. When all 3 of those guys are on the court they can't be beat...and they proved that.
