08:16 AM ET 10.31 | The Rockies' managerial search has reached reached another stage: evaluation. Team owner Dick Monfort, general manager Dan O'Dowd and assistant GM Bill Geivett are scheduled to meet later this week to discuss the candidates. At this time, there are six named candidates: Bench coach Tom Runnells; 41-year-old veteran player Jason Giambi; former Rockies shortstop Walt Weiss; former White Sox and Mets manager Jerry Manuel; former Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin; and current Diamondbacks bench coach Matt Williams. A major-league source said Tuesday that the list is not likely to expand, but didn't rule out the possibility that the Rockies could decided to talk to another candidate.

He's only making a fraction of what he used to. He had his last big salary year in 2011 and then signed a 2 yr extension for $9.9 million.

If I am them you need to look at a man that you think can hang around at least 5years so you can rebuild, grow together, and then try to catch up with the two California teams.

If they are talking about expanding the list, that suggests they aren't real happy with the ones they have interviewed so far. I'm not sure you want to be the manager of a rebuilding team if you have tepid support from the owner and front office.

they will need more than just one manager,,,,
