01:29 PM ET 10.31 | With hours to spare before the October 31 deadline, the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry have agreed to a long-term contract extension that will keep the star guard in the Bay Area for several years to come. Curry has signed a four-year, $44 million deal that will kick in at the start of the 2013-14 season. There was concern that Curry's ongoing ankle issues would prevent him from securing a long-term contract, but the Warriors clearly believe that his talent outweighs his injury risk.

This move is just as dumb as the Hornets matching the offer for Eric Gordon. Both will get paid while both stay injured.

Wow, 11 million a year for a guy who is one dimensional and with a bum ankle.

This is the NBA....abound with dumb GMs...SMH

And Steph is a Charlotte kid that I watched grow up since high school but this is crazy..

Hold up.. when did Curry become a star guard? What has he accomplised in this league to merit 44million? I'm happy for him and his family though. I guess there's a reason why certain teams stay mediocre. You may David Lee 80million, Curry 44 knowing that aint getting you nowhere... poor Golden State fans...

OVERPAID

To say the kid cant play of is one dimensional is short sighted or ignorant you choose. Does he deserve that much money? Maybe not but the kid can play the game and his talent has allowed him to get this money. Why so much hate? The kid is young and needs to rest that ankle so he can earn the money he is being paid. They keep rushing him back.

It seems like the Warriors outbid themselves again...

He's just a shooter and hasn't been able to take his college shooting ability and do it at the NBA level. He can't defend, can't dribble, can't create his own shot, can't pass. Yeah, 44 million is about 40 million too much.

This not true at all. He is VERY skilled on the offensive end. Yes he can be a defensive liability even when his ankles were "healthy" but the kid can flat out shoot he has no trouble handling the ball. His not a prototypical pass first PG but he definitely can run an offense.

Have you even seen this kid play in a GS Uni? I doubt it.

Yes it is a questionable move given the health of his ankles but the FO must feel that he has taken the right steps to avoid further ankle strains.

Thank you, your response came before mine could and summed up everything I was gonna say. That guy simply doesn't watch basketball and if he does he obviously is clueless while doing so.

All the kid does is create off the DRIBBLE, and PASS to open teammates...lets look at the numbers.
As a rookie over 80 games played 17.5 points per game/6 assist/ 4 rebs and shot 43% from three and 46% from the field and 88% from the line

2nd year 74 games 18.6ppg/6 assist/ 4rbs/ 44% from three/ 48% from the field/ 93% from free throw line

last season while hurt 14.7ppg/ 5.3 assist/ 3 rebs/ 45% from three/ 49% from field/ 90% free throw
Numbers don't lie man but obviously either you do or you are just ignorant to facts
