04:36 PM ET 10.31 | UCLA freshman point guard Kyle Anderson has been cleared by the NCAA to play for the Bruins this upcoming season, according to a report from Baxter Holmes and David Wharton in the Los Angeles Times. The report cites Anderson's family members, who relayed that the highly touted guard was declared eligible by the NCAA.

The 6'8 guard is part of heralded recruiting class for Ben Howland and the Bruins. Anderson was expected to contribute right away as a freshman, joining Shabazz Muhammad as two first-year players who could start to restore the program to prominence and put them in contention in the Pac 12. Muhammad has also been the subject of a much-publicized NCAA investigation for potential violations. That investigation reportedly centers around financial assistance Muhammad's family may have received from advisors Ken Kavanagh and Benjamin Lincoln.
