Trade bait: LeGarrette Blount

08:05 AM ET 11.01 | As of Thursday morning, it wasn't unreasonable to wonder whether Tampa Bay would move running back LeGarrette Blount. Here is the problem with Blount, according to one team executive. "He is a one dimensional power back who has not been effective in short yardage or on the goal line." That explains why a former 1,000 yard back might be available and why his trade value is limited. Blount is effective between the tackles, and can be physical and difficult to bring down. But he needs a running lane. He is not very explosive and he struggles to create momentum in traffic. He also has had ball security issues.

A few years back, he was jail bait.

Somebody could use him. Very young with hardly any wear and tear.

What trade value????

Find a team with a surplus of shoelaces.

I don't think anyone would kick these tires... Free Agency, maybe.

November 1, 2012  08:17 AM ET

I'd take him... and cut Felix Jones!

I wouldn't trade for him though.

In other words, he sucks.

November 1, 2012  08:25 AM ET

His game has been in a steady decline.

I wish the Giants would pick him up if nobody wants him, then comes the surprise, Blunt running, and the Giants continuing on the rise.

He might punch you.

November 1, 2012  09:28 AM ET

LeGarrette Blount makes $540,000 this year and then becomes RFA. Cheap enough. If he is not moved it is because other teams do not see him as an upgrade.

Trade bait?

Yeah, it sounds like you could get him for a bucket of fish heads.

Ya'll are talking about the same Blount, right? He can be a heckuva RB, and has shown it. He needs a team that will give him a chance to show his stuff. Green Bay comes to mind right now.

November 1, 2012  10:26 AM ET

He could make a great parking lot attendant.

The Pack does not know how to block for a running back. He would be awful there like Green who gets to the line and there's no place to go.

I think he'd be great for the Giants, since they actually have an offensive line that blocks. There are more than a few other teams where Blount would fit nicely. The irony is, all those teams already have good backs.

Blount can play. He can't block, but he can play!
