08:18 AM ET 11.01 | Soon, the glow of Wednesday's parade will be forgotten and the real work for Giants general manager Brian Sabean will begin. The Giants have nine free agents, several of whom were key members of the World Series run. Leadoff hitter Angel Pagan and No. 2 hitter Marco Scutaro both are free agents and are at the top of the offseason to-do list for Sabean and his staff. The Giants have indicated that bringing Pagan and Scutaro back are top priorities, but it could be difficult, especially with Pagan. ... Pagan said he loves San Francisco and the organization and hopes to come back, but when asked about his contract situation, said, "Now is a time for celebrating." By Thursday it will be time to start negotiating.

If you get the Angel Pagan from this year I would say its a no brainer....but what happens if you sign him and get the player the Mets got rid of....????....and Scutaro had the run of his career since being traded to the Giants....if he is so good why has he been on 6-7 teams.....???....I think after the Giants success with both players they're going to have to figure a way to keep them both....

Scutaro is one of those late bloomers. He didn't break into the big leagues until he was 27.

Dude - he's a soon to be 37 year old journeyman who had a nice hot streak. He's not hitting .362 next year. He'll hit .270-ish with no power and provide decent middle infield defense.

G men have plenty of options. People want to play for them now.

angel pagan and marco scutaro were some of the tough players as a hitters at the plate,,,, love the way pagan workout verlander in his first at bat and he did in old fashion,,,

giants can't lose one and two punch in scutaro and pagan and if you do think too long this options could fade away in a blink,,,

That's a good assessent of Scutaro. The Giants got him thinking that is what they would get (270; no power; good glove), and it would be an improvement over what they had. I expect they will keep him if the price isn't too high.

I'm not so sure they keep Pagan, though. He and Blanco look like kind of the same player, and Blanco is a couple of years younger.

From the "late bloomer" comment, it seemed like you were implying he was still improving as a hitter. Obviously, I took your comment the wrong way.

All I was referring to was that he got a late start to his career.

while with the Mets Pagan was their best center fielder and that group included Carlos Beltran. Scutaro has excelled everywhere he has gone. Personally, I'd concentrait more on Pagan than Scutaro. I think it's in the book of being a GM, don't overpay for a 2nd baseman Ryan Sandberg.
