08:10 AM ET 11.02 | From his perspective, Tyson Chandler doesn't yet see the fiery rivalry that so many others are hoping to squeeze out of Knicks-Nets. [Chandler called the since-postponed] inaugural meeting between the city's pro basketball inhabitants a game between divisional competitors, and not much more. "No disrespect to them, it's not a rivalry, not yet," he said. ... Like each other or not, [Nets owner Mikhail D. Prokhorov and his Knicks counterpart James L. Dolan's] are in the same business now, and it can only be enhanced by having two teams elbowing each other for attention. "You need big-city teams to be competitive," Chandler said. "For a long time the Nets struggled and now they have a team that can compete."

Agree with the above comments, but why start with "No disrespect to them"!!!. Nets are the more successful franchise the past decade, and Knicks have been nothing but a showboating drama-queen franchise (Isiah, Starbury, Dolan, Franchise, Anucha, LBJ snub etc etc). On paper the knicks should have been a top-4 team last year itself. This year, with many other teams taking a step back (Hawks, Bulls etc), there's simply NO excuse for the Knicks NOT to be top 4.
But I doubt that it'll happen, you need a REAL coach, sorry.

Look who's talking. This Chandler guy is like Melo to me... what has he done for the Knicks. He didn't deserve the DOY... couldn't even make his prensence felt against a Miami team with no center... yet he feels comfortable enough to yap around.
Miami will be in town tonite... what you got?

See how many nights the Nets are sold out and see how many nights the Knicks are sold out.....big difference. There's lights lit seems like every year on River Ave. in the Bronx, can't say the same for the Grand Central Parkway.....big difference. Although they play in the same staduim, one team is universally recognized as a champion, with the other is a bumbling embarrassment to New York....big difference. Yeah, these are the truths when it comes to the Nets, Mets, and Jets, yeah this sick rhyme.
Look, for all you people who don't live in New York, this is plain and simply a Knicks, Yankees, and Giants city and you can make up all the imaginairy rivalries all you want, (its massive denial on your behalf) but the no rilvart between Yanks/Mets, Giants/Jets, Knicks/Nets....its completely one sided. So there you have it, worry about the Lakers/Celtics, Knicks/Celtics, Sixers/Celtics, Bulls/Knicks, Bulls/Pistons/ Heat/Celtics, Heat/Knicks, truly rivalries in every sense of the word and not this fools gold you have in the Knicks/Nets so called rilvaries......utter madness! Apple, and I'm out!

Haha yeah that is true I thought Dwight was snubbed. Chandler made an impact to improve the Knicks defense though. With a jump shooting center when Bosh plays center you can pretty much neutralize Chandler who likes to roam in the paint.

While that's true a lot more is expected from someone that thinks he's a DOY... his impact has been minimal. He doesn't lock down the middle like Mutombo did or close to Howard on offense and don't forget Howard has no offensive skill... so Chandler to me is at best a serviceable center... not a difference maker. He's not good enough to speak on what a rivalry is aka he has a lot to prove and I don't think he will. Like the many that take Dolan's money he's more likely to fold...

...but the Knicks havent struggled at all...right? Seems like a decent rivalry, 2 mediocre franchises battling it out for the title of most average.

There won't be a rivalry until the Nets beat them a couple of times and finish a season with a better record.
