04:26 PM ET 11.02 | Speculation regarding Jahvid Best's ability to play football is officially over for 2012. The Detroit Lions announced today that they will leave him on the reserve/PUP list, ending his season. Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew released the following statement with the news that Jahvid Best would not return this season: There has been subsequent evaluation and consultation regarding Jahvid since our last update. As has been the case throughout, we have deferred to the medical experts and support their current recommendation that Jahvid not return to the field this season. Javhid's approach to this situation and his adherence to the process and protocol have been exemplary. No one has worked harder or shown more dedication than Jahvid has over the past year. As disappointing as this decision is for us and Jahvid, we do believe it is in his long-term best interest.

It was settled back in July, when he couldn't start training camp. The Lions have just done a stand-up thing and kept him on the payroll so he qualifies for the pension program.
