09:54 PM ET 11.03 | The Los Angeles Lakers were hoping that point guard Steve Nash would be a big part of the team moving forward, however, it looks like the star could be out of action indefinitely. Unfortunately for the team, the Lakers have announced that Nash will be out indefinitely with a non-displaced fracture in his left leg. Steve Nash was examined by team doctor Steve Lombardo and had an MRI exam. Results of the MRI showed a small, non-displaced fracture in the head of his fibula (left leg). The injury occurred in the second quarter of Wednesday night's game in Portland against the Trail Blazers. Nash is expected to be out a minimum of a week. He will be re-examined and an update on his condition will be given at that time.

Any extended amount of timeoff for Nash smells doom for the Lakes. 1-2 weeks should be fine, but anything more, it can be problematic.

A 38 yr old player got injured, how surprising.

Anyone that isn't a Laker's fan saw this one coming. The guy is too old to play like they want him to. And I believe that Bryant is next, he's due to breakdown after 13 injury-free years. I for one wouldn't mind seeing someone else in the playoff picture.

Firstly, why are you looking at ABC for medical info on stress fractures...LOL...I thought they did the TV thing.
Secondly, do you think it's REALLY that big a deal if he's out for a month and a half worst case at this point in the season?
Here a lot of folks saying doom-&-gloom (not necessarily from you), but if Nash (or Kobe or Howard) were to be injured, the begining of the season would be a good time for it, no?

Let's keep some perspective; a vet PG that they will use sparingly until the playoffs is injured for most likely a month-month and a half...so yes it's not great for the Lakers, but perspective.
