10:00 PM ET 11.03 | In a surprising and inspiring development, the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to activate 29-year-old defensive tackle Mike Patterson from the reserve/non-football injury list today. Eagles head coach Andy Reid told Pro Football Talk, "We'll get it done today. It'll be knocked out today one way or another." Patterson began practicing two weeks ago, but even then he was not expected to resume playing during the 2012 season after undergoing brain surgery in the offseason. It was very scary stuff for the solid DT, as surgery was needed to fix a congenital tangle of blood vessels. There was even some worry that Mike Patterson would not be able to play football again, and it was almost certain that he would not be able to play for the remainder of the season. Despite having a few scary health problems in his career, Patterson is a worry and has only missed two games in his eight-year career. He wants to play, and this is definitely a story to feel good about

I'm sure doctors were consulted and waivers were signed. I'm hoping this guy does something good. I'm really pulling for him....though I doubt if he'll play that much later today.

If he's cleared? Let him play!

"He wants to play, and this is definitely a story to feel good about"....I'm not feeling good about a guy recovering from brain surgery playing a game known for head injuries.

I'd feel better if he retired and lived a long, healthy life doing something else

I wish the guy well. But, hey, the Eagles are a mess this season. Activating this guy will make no difference.

By the way, anyone else see that Notre Dame game last night? GO IRISH!

I'm really pissed off at my cable provider. I wanted to watch the game but for the first 55 minutes they were showing The Ray Graham Show.

FYI Stu this is Canuck eh?.

I think this is a sad story and just shows the reality of the NFL. For most of these players they have no choice but to try to play, because if they don't play no pay, and most players have not made enough money to retire from the game so they will continue to try to play.
