07:56 AM ET 11.05 | It may only be early November on the calendar, but a bye week gives the Redskins an awful lot of time to wonder about how 2012 is slipping away. Calling the [Sunday] loss to the Carolina Panthers "very disappointing" after labeling the game a "must-win" earlier in the week, Coach Mike Shanahan said that, at 3-6 going into the bye week, "Now you're playing to see who obviously is going to be on your football team for years to come. Now we get a chance to evaluate players and see where we're at. Obviously, we're not out of it statistically, but now we find out what type of character we've got and how guys keep on fighting through the rest of the season." And, yes, it's only Nov. 4.

"Now you're playing to see who obviously is going to be on your football team for years to come."
Now we see that it takes more than a franchise quarterback to field a winning team. It takes a franchise coach, too. And maybe a franchise owner.
Still, Hail to the Redskins!
Hail to 2013!

Wonder how Little Danny is going to take this...
I can't imagine he will take it very well.

He's going to lose the team!!!
How the hell do you basically quit as a head coach 9 games into the season?!
I also would like to know what the hell makes Shanny(s) think they're entitled to be here another few years, themselves!
Time to evaluate everything before they ruin a once in a lifetime QB, Seriously!

If that's the case, Snyder should start putting together a wish-list of new HCs.

ah, it gets late early in D.C. these days. I'm also looking forward to those "we're so close to a winning record" stories that recount all of the injuries and how many close games they've lost.

Shanahan hides the inept defensive & offensive coordinators and obviously HORRIBLE play calling on both sides, and puts the blame on the players. That isn't fair.
The Redskins coaching staff can't motivate ANYONE but an opposing team.
A damn "Homecoming" game in the NFL... Another silly bush league ploy. And the reward was a whipping (score doesn't reflect the way they loss) to a 1-6 team.

Ah you are out of it but your correct: time to figure out the deadwood on the team and think about the draft. I posted similar on the green bay site and was read the riot act. The fact is that team has some deadwood who for three years have contributed nothing but sitting on the bench injured more than playing.
Some teams only may small adjustments while others need to clean a little more thoroughly. At 3-6 this team needs a scrubbing in some areas.

Shanahan screwed up again and what? this is supposed to be breaking news? Snyder has got to quit chasing "big name" coaches, find a young, hungry guy with the potential and then let him develop the team

Hardest rookie running back I've seen in YEARS in Washington, and they don't even understand giving him the ball in the 2nd half.
The play calling is like a 12 year old on Madden, on both sides of the ball.

Now it's time for Shanahan to start thinking about spending a lot more time back at that huge palace he built for himself back in Denver. Even Peyton couldn't afford it.

3rd season, and 3rd "evaluating talent" stage statement from Shanahan before the leaves fall off the trees. As if he didn't evaluate talent in the previous years, or spring training, or preseason.

Watching the game against the steelers last week I was extremely impressed on how accurate RG3 threw the ball , unfortunately his receivers were pitiful dropping 9 passes , meanwhile their defense got completely owned . now they lose to a crappy Panthers team ? ouch .

Sean Payton to the Redskins next season? The lure of having a young QB with as much potential as Brees, plus a very good defense if everyone comes back healthy, could make this an attractive position.
