Vikes Ponder a problem on their hands

08:00 AM ET 11.05 | For Vikings fans, Christian Ponder's 11-for-22, 63-yard performance Sunday felt less like a blip on the radar screen and more like a trend -- downward. He's regressing while all around the league young quarterbacks are thriving. Sunday, Seattle rookie Russell Wilson was the better quarterback on the field. While he lacks Ponder's size and arm strength, Wilson threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. He looked more decisive and poised than Ponder, too. Ponder is regressing just when a good young quarterback would be expected to surge. ... He played well enough to help the Vikings into contention; now he seems to be wilting under the pressure he helped create. Ponder isn't just ineffective; he looks uncomfortable even playing the position.

Once again, if not for Peterson and Harvin, the Vikings would be more horriblerer.

What? I thought all the experts considered Wilson too short to play in the NFL? Is it possible he might actually belong on the field with all the taller, more-quarterbackish quarterbacks in the league? Now that's something to Ponder.

Regressing? Perhaps he's following in the path of Mark Sanchez. We'll know for sure if his hot girlfriend dumps him.

I have to admit the Wilson looked good. Has a lot more arm strength than I thought and made smart decisions. He is surrounded by talent so its not all up to him but Ponder is too. My take on Ponder, no arm strength. He is good for those 10 yard plays, but that's about it. The first games that they won tha'ts all they did is 8 yard dump passes.

More like the path of Tony Romo, I'd say. Hot girlfriend and everything.

They should just be glad Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert were already off the board whey took Ponder with the 12th pick in that first round, or they would really be in a mess.
You reach and draft for need in round one and you get what you get.

One of Ponders biggest problem is his wide outs who cannot get separation from D backs. The play calling doesn't help either, but when AP rushes for almost 200 yards and you still lose, you have more problems than with just the QB.

Damn, give the guy some time. Even veteran qb's have slumps. The sports media is so knee-jerk about everything. They put teams and players on some unreachable pedestal when they do good and make them out to be unworthy when they aren't doing as good.

Mornin', Mangler. In the fourth quarter yesterday, I thought of the Steel Curtain of olden days. Nicely done.

Harvin has been a non factor the last few weeks ...because of Ponder's ineffectiveness....it's also killing their defense because the offense can't stay on the field...and the defense runs out of gas.....
