08:09 AM ET 11.05 | New York may not yet be willing to turn catching duties over to Austin Romine or Gary Sanchez, which would leave the franchise open to options. The Yankees have had discussions with Russell Martin's agent about a possible return engagement in pinstripes and the free agent catcher, not surprisingly, is interested. "We've had some initial conversations and they've expressed interest in bringing him back, but nothing substantial to date other than that," said Matt Colleran, Martin's rep. "The organization, he loves it." ... Colleran said other teams have called to express interest as well and noted that the market would "take a little bit of time to develop." Mike Napoli and AJ Pierzynski are probably the biggest-name catchers on the market.

It would be a good fit for both, one year deal for Martin and the kids get another year of experience.

I was just going to ask that, where are all these great young catchers we've been hearing about for 3 years?

So offer him a two year $15 million deal and walk away from the table. Jeesh. There was no market last year for him and it did not get better.

Would be nice, but he got $7.5 million last year. Heck, I am good with the same money for one year again. And just fine with it all if he plays somewhere else.

wiseup: Offer martin 1 year at 8 or 9 mil. Take it or leave it. If he turns it down, check about Pierzinski or other catchers who might be on market. If that plans fall through bring up one of the prospects. He can't hit much worse than Martin. The prospect has the upside. He should get better with more experience and learn how to hit and learn how to call game.

wiseup : The Yankees need to work on getting younger. As contracts expire they need to look at is spending more money on older players or do you let them walk, and replace with prospects

be lucky and napoli could get at least two years deal, there is no such of thing as 4 or 5 years deal any more,,know why?? he is a injury-prone player and can't guarantee any full season playing time!!!

the one who needs a work place is napoli, if the rangers WHO saw him play in their team didn't sign him,,, what makes napoli think that some team would give him a 5 years deal?? INJURIES ARE TALKING LOUDER THAN ANY STATS,,NAPOLI!!!
