04:59 PM ET 11.06 | When New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera fell to the ground and saw his season come to an end this past May with a torn ACL, he pledged a return in 2013. Now, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that Rivera has informed the Yankees he plans to pitch next season. Rivera pitched just nine games a season ago. "He wants to play again," Cashman told ESPNNewYork.com's Andrew Marchand. "I'll work with his agent, Fernando Cuza, on the details of a contract." Rivera vowed to return to the team just a day after he injured his ACL and he is ready to make his promise a reality. "I'm coming back," Rivera said after suffering the torn ACL "Put it down. Write it down in big letters. I ain't going down like this." Last season, Rivera made $15 million so a large pay cut would have to be coming his way in order to stay with the team.

I hope he gets back, has a good year, and goes out strong.
