Chris Webber's agent, Aaron Goodwin, said he has had ongoing talks with the Heat -- which tried to sign Webber last year -- and that Webber likes Miami. But Miami hasn't made an offer, and Webber is a better fit on a title contender.

What a ridiculous statment. Who isn't a better fit on a title contender? Just what the Heat DON'T need--another stationary body.

For the love of money...or for the love of 760 Octane at Fat Tuesday's.

One or the other.

dont overlook this...miami needs all da help they can get right now...if they give webber a shot he would most likely help them in a most needed TURNAROUND especially after the all star break...he would b great coming off the bench...heat wouldn't need 2 overuse Diesel and Flash...not a heat fan but just a suggestion

January 20, 2008  11:34 AM ET

dont do it chris...shaq and webber doesn't have the same impact as it would have had 7 yrs. ago

January 20, 2008  12:03 PM ET

Yeah, just what the Heat need...another overpaid, washed-up has been. Go for it C-Webb.

January 20, 2008  01:07 PM ET

Would have been good few years ago. Not now.

January 20, 2008  01:21 PM ET

He's trying to leverage the Lakers

January 20, 2008  01:59 PM ET

da big bumout has it right. What would Webber do to help Miami? He's trying to get a 2 or 3 year deal out of the Lakers, instead of the 1/2 season the Lakers would probably offer.

January 20, 2008  02:41 PM ET

The Heat welcomes everyone with open arms, not surprising.

January 20, 2008  03:43 PM ET

Webber just wants to get paid, and play minimal minutes! What better way to do that in Miami....they suck, you wont get killed by the press...great fit for another bum like SHAQ

January 20, 2008  03:50 PM ET

This agent of his sure talks a lot, with not much result.

January 20, 2008  04:15 PM ET

If Detriot offers you a spot, take it CWebb. If they dont, stay retired.

January 20, 2008  04:38 PM ET

If Joe D dont call, do a Jalen and be a sportscaster at ESPN. Or hook up with Tyra again.

January 20, 2008  04:46 PM ET

Makes perfect sense...a has been player wanting to join a has been team.

January 20, 2008  09:55 PM ET

I don't really care where Webber ends up. It's not like he'll be a vital part of any team anyway.

January 20, 2008  11:09 PM ET

Funny that every time you hear Webber's name in connection with a team, it's followed by "they haven't made him an offer"

January 21, 2008  02:33 AM ET

Webber can produce in limited minutes, has some good post skills, is a great passer, and can still have the occasional 25/10/5 game, but he's old, not that mobile after his surgery, can't defend anymore and has developed a rep as a locker-room cancer and prima donna on the court. How is this different from most of the Heat squad? Yo, Riley, get some young talent! You've got a high lottery pick coming after this season anyway, since the squad is going nowhere.
