08:02 AM ET 11.07 | Stuck in neutral with the Niners, running back Brandon Jacobs would settle these days for a single snap. On Tuesday, the eight-year veteran fielded the latest round of why-haven't-you played questions, and he repeatedly referred those inquiries to Jim Harbaugh. "You want to know anything about that you've got to go talk to him," Jacobs said. Later, he added: "You guys can go talk to coach Harbaugh. He can tell you whatever you want to know." And, finally: "I work every day. That's the answer I'm going with. You have to ask coach Harbaugh for anything else you want to know." ... "I'm not elaborating about it," Jacobs said of his spectator status Tuesday. "It seems like every time I do, I get destroyed in the media."

Not all teams are fortunate enough to keep their starting running backs healthy. The season is only half over. You may yet get your snaps, Brandon.

Wise move, Brandon (if he can keep it up.) As already pointed out, your one play removed from becoming 'the man.'

The Niner's are basically limiting their veterans play till the playoffs. It's pretty much why they haven't used Moss much either... they're basically holding onto certain scheme's they plan on letting loose later... Patience bro

Not to mention the rookie from Oregon--LaMichael James?--who is also not seeing any playing time. Good teams have back-ups available. Jacobs is a back-up; maybe he is just now figuring it out.

Totally agree... I'm sure both players will be used in a RB by committee type of role once the playoffs come to keep opposing defenses on their toes

I think he handled the topic well, as I'm sure he's extremely frustrated about being an inactive.

So the news here is that Jacobs DIDN'T run his mouth when given an opportunity?

They have only played on player from their 2012 draft ( Trenton Robinson, S ) they have used him for special teams. 2 players were cut, one got injured on his first day of practice. There #1 and #2 picks A.J. Jenkins and LaMichael James have to be frustrated also. Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter will both need to be rested in 4-6 weeks so James and Jacobs should see some action.

His main purpose would have been to pick up those short yardage 3rd downs, or used when they get within the Red Zone. If Jacobs were able to play special teams he'd be on the 46 man roster for playing days.

jacobs is a great softener... put him in for an early quarter and the defenders get beat up. Then put Gore in with fresh legs.
