08:12 AM ET 11.07 | And then there were ... two. The Rockies have narrowed the search for their next manager to two candidates, Walt Weiss and Matt Williams, a major-league source confirmed Tuesday. Weiss remains the favorite, the source said, but Williams was impressive in his meeting with the Rockies' front office on Monday, prompting the team to take more time to make its decision. Rockies owner Dick Monfort, general manager Dan O'Dowd and senior vice president of major-league operations Bill Geivett will meet in Indian Wells, Calif., at the annual general managers' meeting to make a final call. The two-day meeting starts Wednesday. A final decision is expected soon. Weiss said Tuesday afternoon that he had not heard from the Rockies.

Well, if you wanna be a big-league manager, you have to start somewhere. I guess the game plan would be get a job with the Rocks, get fired in a couple of years, and then you have "experience" for your resume for when you apply for the next job.
