07:46 PM ET 11.07 | The states of Washington and Colorado have adopted new legal stances toward marijuana, as of Election Day. What does this mean for college sports? Can players in those states now do whatever they want without fear of suspension? In a word, no, but there's more to it than that.

Well yer kinda right.....First the law has not went into effect and could take quite along time as there will be some hurdles the states still will have to clear, right know all the voting results mean is the people of them states approve of it. If it ever do's get to the point where it becomes legal that means that State licensened store's will be able to sell amounts up to an ounce to an adult(21yrs old) and to obtain one of these licenses will be $$$$ and its up to the county, city or town to allow the store.. It will be illegal to smoke, display the pot or joint in public, automobile, bar, etc. , the only place you can use it is in your home.
Until they can reach some kind of deal with the Feds it won't be the gold mine your saying ,the state will probably lose more money from the Feds. And the Feds could come in and shut the stores down since this is considered a Federal controled substance.
We went thru the samething here in Tenn. a few years ago with Moonshine and now its legal to porduce and sell Moonshine here IF you can fork over the pre-tax money to start making it then they tax what you sell also. Dang law about put me out of Buissness but I am now legal .
Its a step in the right direction tho and I think eventually will spread to other states.

Colorado was already a medical marijuana state (Hey Doc i can't sleep - 'cause of all the crank I take - give me some of dat combustible sleeping medicine). All that will happen is that some doctors will lose some business and border cities will see increased tourism.

It is only a matter of time before all states adopt this strategy. The potential revenue stream is too large to ignore. In the end, the marketplace will force the politicians to legalize this and many other drugs currently prohibited.
