Marijuana legalization doesn't affect NFL drug policy

10:56 PM ET 11.07 | During last night's presidential election, voters in the states of Colorado and Washington decided to pass a motion that will legalize the recreational use of marijuana for adults in those states. While the voters and junk food companies will reap the benefits of the new marijuana laws, NFL players in the states shouldn't celebrate just yet. Amendment 64 allows adults in Colorado over age 21 to possess up to an ounce of marijuana, and allows people to privately grow no more than six marijuana plants. The law passed in Washington is similar. Members of the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks ??? along with aspiring free agents ??? may have hoped they could legally toke up and avoid league discipline, but that is not exactly the case. Marijuana remains an illegal substance under the NFL's substance abuse policy. Players found with the drug in their system will be subject to discipline.

Still illegal on the federal level. The feds have to a degree ignored the medical use, but state legalization is another story. Would not want to be one to test the law - let it play out in the courts first.

I'd be far more concerned with my players drinking booze during their off time then I would be with them toking (or better yet, vaporizing) up.
