Celtics aren't playing hard enough for Rivers

08:06 AM ET 11.08 | Requiring overtime to beat a Washington team that was missing both John Wall and Nene has Doc Rivers understandably concerned. Getting melted in Miami is not shame-worthy. But the past three games have strained even the curve upon which Rivers has been grading his new class in these first weeks. What gives? According to coach, not the C's. At least not enough. "We've got to get more guys that play harder, better," Rivers said after the C's 100-94 overtime win raised them to .500. "You know, I don't care if we play well or not, because that's just human. If you can make shots or not, it happens. But we just have to play with a better focus, and we've got to run our schemes better."

Besides Rondo who's not a pure scorer, their other main scorers Pierce, Garnett and JET are way past their prime. They can't score and defend consistently like they used to. It's just what it is. Maybe Ray saw the writing on the wall and left.

And I don't think it's fair for Doc to call them out like that. They played hard for him when they could. Right now they just don't have it.

If ainge has desire to get some value out of the aging stars this trade deadline is the best time to do it. They let Ray go for nothing. If they keep fantasizing....

As I've ALWAYS been telling, Jeff Green is a fraud. They simply wasted 40M$ on nothing.

Come one Doc, a win is a win. Its better than a loss.

Celtics are a veteran team that's playing to the level of their competition... They know they're gonna win the game so they coast till when they feel they should pick it up enough to squeeze in a win...

QUOTE(#9):

doc is just pushing some buttons to get better effort in the next game. I trust he knows what they need.

As he always does. He knows when to step on the gas and when to let up with his team.

Is it possible that they're just old and have lost a step or two?

-Better focus running a scheme better will turn into better higher percentage shots. It's all connected. Fab Melo needs to develop into a 10 / 10 guys and do it like yesterday, if my Celts are to have any chance of a deep playoff run. I still see the Celts doing a trade before the trade deadline.

I thought the Darko signing would solve all the 'playing hard' questions.

boston, like the spurs, only need to hang in the mix until after the all-star break. staying healthy till the end and finding the chemistry in the latter third of the season is going to be the success formula. just like last season. they just have more new players to work into the mix this year and darko and bradley arent even on the floor yet.

chemistry takes time to develop. expect a .500 ball club until after the all-star break.

They got pissed last year when their age came up, well here we go again. Can't stop the Youth Movement, or Father Time! Accept it!
