Harden mis-remembering the facts

08:09 AM ET 11.08 | James Harden's absence in Oklahoma City has already gone through multiple layers of grief, including some anger. So we're to believe [Harden] was rushed, that he wasn't given enough time to decide whether to stay with the Thunder or bolt, so to speak. Harden said Thunder general manager Sam Presti gave him one hour to accept a four-year, $54-million extension, or he would be traded to the Houston Rockets. ... Truth is, this all didn't come down to one hour. There were 16 previous weeks of talks. ... Had Harden been offered the max, presumably he would have taken it. There would have been no decision to make. So with that a given, wouldn't it have been logical for Harden's thought process would work its way down from the max?

I don't see the hard feelings in this. Whenever there's two sides with a conflict of interest somethings gotta give and that's exactly how it played out: Harden thinks he deserves max. OKC management didn't think he's worth that much or simply couldn't afford to pay that much.

In the end Harden got what he wanted and OKC didn't have to pay him max. Where's the hard feelings?

Seems like Harden has split feelings.

Anytime you move out of a winning situation to an almost-rebuild team, this is expected. Harden WANTS to win, he's just on a bad team now.

I guess he and J-Lin have a lot more in common now....Talking about how they miss their previous teams and surprised by the moves...

+1. Maybe they should have dinner together and reminisce or something. Then they will realize that they are both about to be highly paid..

The thought process for Harden was I want max deal. You give me the max deal or I go elsewhere for the deal. He took a hard line stance and got what he deserved.

Actually it was the no trade clause that was the breaking point... OKC was unwilling to give him one... It isn't as much about the money as people think it is...

I love how no matter how it goes down the players are always the bad guys. They are expected to be loyal to organizations the could give less than when it comes to the players well being. Sports writers make it seem like trying to get paid while you can while putting yourself in position to win a championship is wrong, in what world, the owners are trying to pay little or nothing for players that come and give 100% every night but have maybe a little less star power, yet bring the intangibles to the table have to take one for the team, no so.
The one thing that life will tell Mr. Harden is, it's going to hard to find someone who is sympathetic to your plight when your walking around with 3 bags of groceries and complaining that you're hungry.
Think I'm kidding, ask Latrell Sprewell. You got paid. One outta two aint bad, especially when you got the major one taken care of. bank your money and hope that somewhere down the line luck falls your way and the organization wins a Championship. But that's just me.
