08:14 AM ET 11.08 | Considering the circumstance of this week's meetings, it's no wonder the chatter is heating up on free agent speculation. The Mariners look like a possible new entry in the Josh Hamilton sweepstakes, people familiar with their thinking suggest. The Orioles were identified earlier Wednesday as a potential landing spot for the biggest positional star on the free-agent market, which is just beginning to show itself. The Brewers are a third team that has interest in the superstar outfielder, according to sources, though GM Doug Melvin has said money could be an issue for them. One executive speculated that the Pirates and Braves might also make some sense, though those teams normally aren't major spenders.

The Braves,Bucs, and Brewers are just getting some headlines with no intent of signing Hamilton, but it makes sense for the Mariners to jump in with plenty of money to play with , but the big question is will Josh jump for the big money in Seattle with no chance of winning for a few years, or take a lesser deal and sign with a contender.

O's fan here. Sorry Hamilton, you are way to overpriced with too much baggage. Please sign with the Mariners. I'd rather have Cody Ross.

I find it hard to imagine Hamilton in Seattle. The Mariners need a big bat, and left-handed power hitters seem to handle Safeco a little better than right-handers, but this doesn't seem like a good fit for either the player or the team.

The money is what is going to be the key factor where he goes. This is his only chance and the highest bidder will be where he goes...count on it.
