08:15 AM ET 11.08 | Is Diamondbacks GM Kevin Towers merely in the listening stage on Justin Upton? [From] listening to the buzz in the lobby at the Hyatt Regency here on Wednesday, not everyone at the general managers' meetings is buying that Towers is just gauging the market. Instead, there was a growing sense that Towers might finally move Upton. ... The Rangers, who have depth at both third base ( Adrian Beltre, Mike Olt) and shortstop (Elvis Andrus, Jurickson Profar), are a team that many expect to pursue Upton, particularly with Josh Hamilton seemingly likely to depart as a free agent. The Red Sox are reportedly interested. And sources said the Tigers were doing "due diligence" on Upton's background.

If I am Texas you can sign LaRoche and trade for Upton and get two players for the price of one.

He's not worth what you would have to give up for him.

Upton,Hamilton I would like to see both come to DETROIT.
HAIL TO THE VICTORS!

That is the problem. Arizona has been trying to move him as a potential superstar, and no one has been willing to buy him at that price. He's a nice enough player and would be a valuable addition to some team, but he has been overpriced.

Both players will be over-priced, and Hamilton can't play an entire season, not to mention is prone to some severe cold streaks. If my Tigers were to make a gamble on anyone, I'd want it to be either Melky Cabrera or Shane Victorino. Heck, if Ichiro is priced well enough that would be nice. But no Upton (either of them) or Hamilton.

The BoSox are supposedly strategically committed to developing their future from their minor league talent, with tactical FA signings for short contracts to bridge the time gap before a minor league prospect is ready for MLB.
Thus, a trade that required them to unload some key minor league prospects is unlikely, unless a true All Star is available with a long term contract they can live with.
We shall see if they are really going to stick with their plan, or will become seduced by a big trade.

this player, justin upton would fit just right in the red sox team, after alex gonzalez/beckett gone, there is not a single top star in that team, aside from david ortiz and pedroia nobody can pop up as a star player at least not right now,,,

the rangers could get strong at the outfield,,if they really want, lets see, we have this trade rumors david holland for ellsbury from red sox, then this justin upton trade is hanging around rangers perspectives, BJ UPTON its available through free agency, rangers should trade for ellbury, trade for justin upton, and sign BJ UPTON with this 3 guys in your lineup things could be shinning like a star from far east!!!

Okay, Upton is going to be moved this winter, that much is sure. OFs are easier to acquire than most positions, and there are several on the market. Texas has Andrus and Olt and others, and probably makes the most sense. Andrus, Olt and a prospect for Upton and one of the good young pitchers? Maybe.
The Sox do not have as much talent to deal, but need a hitter. Cody Ross will probably be back, but he could go to LF with Kalish if they get Upton.
I am still waiting to see if BJ Upton waits for his brother's trade to sign somewhere. How about this scenario...Upton to Philly for Cliff Lee, plus other guys on both sides. Then, BJ signs in Philly too.
Who knows, but it could be an interesting winter.
