08:17 AM ET 11.08 | For everyone who had believed in Kansas' deep bench, the program's head coach has a few words for you. "I don't think we're as deep as what people think," coach Bill Self said Wednesday, speaking to Jayhawk fans at a Kansas Roundball Luncheon in Topeka. "I don't think we are." KU used 14 players against Emporia State and 11 in Monday's exhibition win against Washburn. ... A nine-man rotation would be ideal, Self said, although KU isn't there yet. "Right now I'm probably only comfortable with eight," Self said. Freshmen outside that rotation could become redshirt candidates. Self already has broached the possibility with Landen Lucas, a 6-foot-10 forward from Portland, Ore., who averaged 7.5 minutes in KU's two exhibitions.
