08:25 AM ET 11.08 | David Clarkson's European vocation, specifically with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, may be at its end. Clarkson explained that the Austrian league has a points system for limiting the lineup each team dresses for a game. ... "We haven't left, but by [Nov. 12] there is a deadline where they can have so many guys on the roster," Clarkson said. "I came over here to get into shape and to train, but I didn't come over here to take some guy's job when he has two kids or three kids. So, that's the decision I have to make. I haven't left yet, but I told the team I've really enjoyed it here, it's been a fantastic place to play, but I didn't want to take anyone's job." Clarkson explained that the Austrian league has a points system for limiting the lineup each team dresses.

In an effort to remain neutral they all just skate around at center ice.

I suppose with the right spin that sounds good.

At least he didn't plead poverty and the need to play so he could feed his family.

Why doesn't anyone complain when the best Euro or Russian players come over to the NHL? Aren't guys like Datsyuk and Lidstrom taking jobs away from Canadian and US players who have families to feed?

I agree, it had to be said....

Cherry would approve.

But the NHL would never be as big as it now if all we had to worry about was employing North Americans.

In fact there are already too many Yanks in the league...

So what's the league do about rosters??

Most Canadian and US players have families that need to be on diets. Plus, why does any of this have to make sense?
