08:19 AM ET 11.09 | Might this be the offseason that Tampa Bay finally strikes a big deal? After much talk the past few years, the [Rays] finally appear ready to trade a starting pitcher. In fact, they could even trade two, considering that they've got eight to choose from. So, is there a scenario in which the Rays could move both left-hander David Price and righty James Shields? Of course, if the respective prices are right. The Rays, though, are more likely to deal just one starter. And industry sources are skeptical that they will trade Price or Shields, given the weakened state of the AL East. ... They could trade righty Jeremy Hellickson or even lefty Matt Moore for a big bat, and be a serious contender again next season.

Not really sure if there???s a big enough bat available that would justify giving up Hellickson, Price or even Moore.

Again sports writer to much idol time on your hand if you think for one minute that the Rays would trade their franchise pitcher Price for any bat out there. On second thoughts call Theo, if he would trade away his ss, there is a chance he might give you any multiple players for Price.

Considering the Rays limited budget, I don't see how it's possible to upgrade the offense without moving at least one starter in a trade.

Price isn't going anywhere. Shields on the other hand, will probably be dealt. Rumor has it they've offered up Hellickson but no idea what they are asking for him.

Isn't Price now Arb Eligible? Will the Rays still be able to afford him? He might be the best guy to trade, when you see that he will bring the most in return.

Trade one starter now--it looks like Shields is the one they are shopping, and explore the value of some other starters, with an eye towards the trading deadline. At least, that is what it looks like they are thinking.

conger wont get any playing time in the majors with the halos team, i mean not any time soon, this should open a door for the young catcher to be part of the players to be offered to the rays for a few starters,,conger/pete bourjos/mark trumbo/ for chris archer/alex torres/ and wilking rodriguez,,, angels could reload their devastated farm system IF they are able to pull this type of a trades!!!

angels had have done the wrong trades at all the times, they had gave more players for one player in many of this deals, the halos DO need to work a trade by trying to get young at their farm system at the same time been able to develope those players in short time at their minors,,,

The Rays have more pitching than any team in MLB. They have to be smart, make a deal or two, a few free agent signings, and improve the offense.
