08:25 AM ET 11.09 | What a difference two seasons make for Gene Chizik, who not all that long ago won a national title. Auburn University President Jay Gogue could lean on a committee to help him determine the fate of [Chizik], whose football team is struggling with a 2-7 record. Gogue is expected to review the status of Chizik, Athletics Director Jay Jacobs and Jacobs' top lieutenant, Tim Jackson, after the Alabama game on Nov. 24. Gogue told some trustees he may form a committee to help him reach a decision on the direction of the football program, according to AuburnUndercover.com. A letter from the athletic department last week to influential Auburn alumnus extolled the accomplishments of Jacobs. It is unclear if a similar support package was prepared for Chizik.

Already, the rumors have Jacobs retained, Jackson reassigned (go look for a job, or we'll have you cleaning toilets for your salary), and Chizik jettisoned after the conclusion of this season.

Yes, they are. Hopefully, Rhoads' staff will recruit well and continue to build the program.
