Dark days at Boise State

08:26 AM ET 11.09 | Were this not Boise State, the numbers on offense might not be cause for alarm. By the Broncos' standards, these are dark times. With a yardage output per game that ranks 88th, a scoring average that is 66th and a passing attack on pace for its lowest total since the Clinton administration, the numbers don't seem to lie. Always one to stamp down talk of statistics, there is one that concerns coach Chris Petersen. "I thought we'd score more points," Petersen said. "That's the really the only stat we should care about. Should we score more points? Yeah." Boise State is averaging 27.4 points per game, which if it continues, would be the lowest -- by a touchdown -- since Petersen arrived in Boise as offensive coordinator in 2001.

It will be interesting if Boise starts having down years, if Boise will be as loyal to Petersen as he has been to them. I'd like to think they would, but you never know. Fans, athletic directors, and trustees can be a fickle lot.

What happens when you move from the WAC to the MWC....They are a very good team for the lower tiers, and can beat the "big boys" given enough time, but week in and week out....

Good point, every team has a down year once in a while. I know that some teams in the 12 PAC have some down years and there are a couple of teams in the SEC, that aren't playing all that well this year.
