09:21 AM ET 11.10 | Chiefs fans are excitedly buzzing about whether team owner Clark Hunt is preparing to offer former coach Marty Schottenheimer the general manager position or get his help on reversing the team's declining fortunes. SiriusXM NFL Radio reported that Schottenheimer was at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday to meet with Hunt, who is in Kansas City. This set Chiefs fans on Twitter and Facebook afire. The team flatly denies that Schottenheimer was at the practice facility today. However, left unclear was whether Schottenheimer and Hunt met at a different location, met earlier this week or whether they have a meeting later this week.

I always thought Schottenheimer got the shaft in San Diego. I bet San Diego fans would rather have him back as opposed to Turner, who's gonna get canned before the end of the season.

Me too, a good coach but has been gone almost 6 years. Is he out of touch?

Agreed good coach but time to move on. Chiefs are like a lot of teams right now, need to get a young HC with the energy and hunger to win and give him some breathing room to build a decent team. Just going out and looking for another "used to be good" coach doesn't work

I think it is more about who he could bring with him as assistant coaches that determines a HC success. Heck, I don't know.

A GM?
Damn - the Magnificent Tuna's son-in-law has taken a bit of a tumble if he's gonna be forced out and replaced by a former HC with no previous GM experience.

I thought that about Dick Vermeil when he came back, but he brought in Martz and won a championship. You can never tell.

They are looking at him for an advisory, or GM position, not a coaching position. IMO that would be great for the Chiefs.....

And also great for Schottenheimer--looks like his coaching days are over, but if he can move into a GM type position he can keep on working.

Not really... he did win a UFL championship with the Virginia Destroyers recently.

Didn't they have a picture with Marty in a Chiefs hat? How about a Redskins hat? Isn't Marty getting a bit old? Why wouldn't KC look to a coach like Chip Kelly of Oregon and inject some youthful energy into the franchise? Oh, it's KC, right, I get it.

Yes, he is out of touch. No disrespect to Marty, but it is what it is.

I saw that, but he's also close to 70, is that too old for GM or advisor.

I suppose you could say every coach in the NFL with a lousy team after a few years is out of touch. Not really an age issue.

You know, if you drop the "c" and "o" and add "i" to where the "o" used to be, you'd have the Chiefs in a nutshell.
