09:26 AM ET 11.10 | The father of deposed Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino stated in no uncertain terms that, if offered, his son would accept the same job at Kentucky. Despite the obvious hurdles -- Petrino's fall from grace in Fayetteville as well as his previous tenure at Louisville -- he's the early favorite to replace Joker Phillips in Lexington. In odds released Thursday by Bovada.com, Petrino comes in as the slight favorite of degenerates oddsmakers at 2/1, followed closely by Duke's David Cutcliffe. Texas Tech's Tommy Tuberville, the former Auburn coach who has been connected to a return to The Plains if Gene Chizik is canned -- comes in at 9/2. Western Kentucky's Willie Taggart, whose Hilltoppers beat the Wildcats earlier this season, is at 5/1 along with San Jose State's Mike MacIntyre. Others potential UK candidates mentioned by Bovada are Arkansas State's Gus Malzahn -- his name will also be in play for the opening at Arkansas -- at 8/1 and Dirk Koetter, former Boise State head coach and current Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator, at 12/1.

Really!
Why would Tuberville's name be mentioned?
Would he really leave the job at TX Tech to go to Kentucky?

Hey! Where's the Notre Dame thread?

Would not speak well for Kentucky to have Calipari and Petrino as coaches of their two major sports.
Sure, they both might be winners, BUT.....

Heck, who would want Petrino as their football coach at this point? I doubt he has gotten any less sleazy since he was shown the door at Arkansas.

November 10, 2012  01:39 PM ET

now that Louisville are getting their behinds handed to them by SYRACUSE(!!??), can we stop getting articles on SI about them getting jobbed by the AP and the whole system?

He is sleazy, no doubt. But, look at the absolute collapse of the of Arkansas without him. The guy can win ball games. Somebody will pick him up; it just won't be his former wife.

SM, you won't see a Notre Dame thread until Nov. 25th, the day after USC beats them!!!!! :-)
