Former Giants exec to help Panthers find GM

10:40 AM ET 11.10 | The man who built the Giants' current core is back in the NFL. Ernie Accorsi, who served as the Giants' GM from 1998 until 2007, has joined the Panthers as a consultant. He will help Carolina find a new general manager; the club fired Marty Hurney last month. "I have a very high regard for Mr. Richardson and look forward to providing any help that I can to him and the organization in their search for a new general manager," Accorsi said in a statement. Accorsi, 71, is close friends with Panthers owner Jerry Richardson from their days working together with the Baltimore Colts in the 1970s.
