Childress won't discuss Harvick exit

11:11 AM ET 11.10 | Richard Childress was visibly upset as he stood next to grandson Ty Dillon's black truck during Friday's qualifying at Phoenix International Raceway. It had nothing to do with Dillon's chances to win the Camping World Truck Series championship, trailing James Buescher by 15 points with two races remaining. It had everything to do with an ESPN.com report that Sprint Cup driver Kevin Harvick has signed a multi-year deal to begin driving for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014. "I've got a contract for 2013 and this is 2012," the owner of Richard Childress Racing said of his deal with Harvick. "I'm not talking to you about nothing [regarding that]. Too far out."

Childress is not having a good time right now......first he loses his engines to Hendricks for EGR drivers and now he is losing his strongest driver.......kind of your fault Childress....you've been too busy with your Dillons to see how frustrated Harvick has become.......plus he was a symbolic connection to Dale......you yanked Harvick out of NW to fill Dale's spot, and to drive Dale's cars, (with a different number).....and what did Harvick do for you, in return....well he rocked it and won and won and had great finishes.
Yes, that was long ago, but Harvick still is your best.........an owner has to watch all things, not just his favorite things......and no driver wants to play 2nd fiddle to your little relatives.
Wake up Childress......you could be handling the Dillons differently and keeping it all together.
There's a big leak in your success boat.

Oh and one more thing......there will now be another proven driver competing against you in Hendrick engines.....didn't see that scenario coming, did you?

Childress must have known things are going bad.. for one.. if he had 'any loyality' towards Dale Earnhardt.. he WOULD NOT bring back the 3.. even if his grandson is driving it!!.. this is all about sponsors and money.. except for the 27 Menard's car.. which is a no brainer.. you have Paul Menard as your driver.. you have a sponsor..Childess is having sponsorship problems.. Burton is at the end of his career.. and Harvick doesn't seem to care anymore.. but there are some sponsors that will jump at the chance to get on the 3 car and thats what Childess is loyal to

I agree with Childress putting business over loyalty to the #3.
However, he tough thing about that is, he is a team owner and since he is in deep sponsor trouble....... even moreso now that Harvick is leaving..........what choices does he have?
His options are not using the 3 and getting into deeper trouble.....or use the 3 and keep his owner business more afloat......no matter how anyone feels about the use of the 3, it is a rough business spot to be in.
Another issue is that Nascar owns the numbers......so if RCR does not use it, someone else could possibly go after it in future.......if it has to be used at all, then RCR is the best one to use it.

If I had my way, that number 3 would be retired.
Another issue for Childress is his lovely little Dillons......Austin has a lot of manners and respect to learn yet....as well as how to handle the car without crashing it so much.......if he ends up in the cup in 2014, he had better learn this quick. Drivers are not going to put up with his arrogance at the cup~big dollar level..

From what they showed, Bowyer slid into Jeff.....just a little side bump......apparently there has been a few of those back & forth, but no harm done.......Jeff tried to give Bowyer an even bigger bump and ended up crashing his own car.....so he waits for Bowyer to come around, then takes him out.......far more severe than the little bumping that was going on.......it is Jeff's own fault that he hit the wall, so why take that out on Bowyer.
I am disappointed that Jeff acted that way.
But that was a great racing fight......going to be some penalties there.

Jeffy is probably upset because his boy Jimmie isn't going to win it this year.......and that's big bucks to Jeffy gone.

Well said! You can add ---> Way to go, Harvick for winning the race! Good move by Stewart by picking up Harvick in 2014.
The Jeff and Bowyer stuff ----> Boys have at it. But don't agree with the pit members trying to take out a driver. NASCAR should have thrown 2 cautions ---> 1 - when Jeff's tire went down BEFORE the payback and 2 - when Danica wrecked. 1 would have stopped Gordon and Bowyer wreck which also took out Joey and Aric and 2 would have saved alot of cars from being wrecked and possibly hurting drivers.
NASCAR dropped the ball when they didn't drop the yellow for Danica. They wanted the race to finish under green more than they wanted to protect the driver's safety. Shame on them.

Big Bang...I totally agree about the cautions....both of them.....The drivers were sliding through oil on the track, which is dangerous and costs owners needless expenses to repair damaged cars.....a caution is for safety and for a "cool down" of tempers.
Also agree on pit crews should not be taking down drivers like that....they had Jeff right on the ground....also dangerous.

After further review, I discovered that NASCAR had black flagged Jeff telling him to get off the track right before he 'paybacked' Bowyer. Jeff should have gone to pit road as instructed. Since he didn't and continued driving to deliberately wreck Bowyer, I now feel like NASCAR should do something to Jeff. But I still think if NASCAR would have thrown the caution after the first dust up, none of it would have happened. Most of the time I believe in 'boys have at it' but because of the black flag issue I have to reverse my previous opinion.
